Does Leading with Care Matter?

An Exploratory Empirical Study

This study of over 110 employees demonstrated that the Leading with Care framework indeed matter to organizations that: a) seek employees who support the organization’s direction, b) value job satisfaction, and c) desire to reduce employee stress levels. The study revealed the fundamental leadership magic emerges from demonstrating respect for others while adroitly integrating the desires of the organization with those of the employees.

One seemingly odd result was the strong relationship between “My organization is headed in the right direction” and the leadership team being “warm and approachable.” After all, what does a leader being “warm and approachable” have to do with organizational direction? On the surface, maybe not much. But, on a deeper level, being “warm and approachable” may signal to employees a degree of human respect that engenders trust that goes well beyond a leader who has a “great strategy” or an “ability to deliver results.” A higher level of trust engendered by respect can drive confidence in strategy or initiatives well beyond any statistic, model, argument or well-reasoned strategy.  Click here to review the study.
